Hidden Jams Creates Unique Silent Concert Experience with AudioFetch

By | Customer Spotlight, Music, Silent Disco | No Comments

We’re continually blown away by the creativity of our customers, and the clever ways they come up with to bring communities together with AudioFetch. A recent application by an Italian organization was so clever, we just had to share it!

Unsurpassed Music in Unconventional Locations

Hidden Jams is a one-of-a-kind project focused on creating unique musical experiences to showcase, celebrate and promote the excellence of the Bel Pease (i.e., the beautiful country of Italy). According to their Instagram account, “Hidden Jams takes music everywhere encapsulating the most special moments and the essence of those places in high-quality video, whether it’s a village that smells of history, a breathtaking landscape or the top of a mountain.”

Silent Concert in the Open Air

The Turin-based organization has recently launched a silent concert series and hosted their first open-air event earlier this month on a quiet plot at Cascina Mallona in Savigliano. With a tree-speckled vista and hip camper van as a backdrop, a lone musician played to an intimate group of attendees listening via the AudioFetch app on their smartphones.

To any onlookers not listening with AudioFetch, it might seem as if the musician was just miming the performance. But for those streaming with AudioFetch, they were able to experience the music as if they were attending a personal concert.

Simple Setup and Intuitive App

Within just a few short weeks after receiving their AudioFetch, Hidden Jams was already making use of the audio over WiFi streaming device for this first event. The organization used this event as a pilot to test the system and work out any logistical aspects, and based on their feedback  (“It was a success!” said Alice F of Hidden Jams), they’re looking forward to more silent concerts in the near future.

Check out a couple of photos from the picturesque event and follow Hidden Jams on Instagram for more photos and videos.

World Lutheran Deaf Outreach Ministry Provides Hearing Assistance with AudioFetch

By | AudioFetch News, Churches, Hearing Assistance | No Comments

We’re proud to work with businesses and organizations that help to bring communities together and raise awareness about hearing health around the world. We wanted to highlight a commendable organization that we’ve recently had the pleasure of working with to provide an assistive listening solution–World Lutheran Deaf Outreach Ministry.

Meet World Lutheran Deaf Outreach Ministry

World Lutheran Deaf Ministry Logo

World Lutheran Deaf Outreach Ministry (WLDO) seeks to connect with the 98% of deaf and hard of hearing individuals who do not attend church because of hearing concerns. Various factors–sentence structure, passive voice, inefficient hearing assistance devices–have historically made attending services a challenge, but WLDO is changing that! Through resources, training, worship, and small group study, WLDO is helping deaf and hard of hearing people come together where they previously couldn’t.

WLDO has deaf ministries in locations around the country, including Emmanuel Lutheran Church of the Deaf in Milwaukee, WI, Our Savior Deaf Lutheran Church in Madison, WI, Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Delavan, WI, Life in Christ Church in Peoria, AZ, Trinity Lutheran Church in Litchfield Park, AZ, Holy-Three-In-One Lutheran Deaf Church in Houston, TX, and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson, MS.

How WLDO Discovered AudioFetch for Assistive Listening

We were introduced to WLDO through a customer that had previously purchased our home audio streaming solution, AudioFetch Home. “My hearing is significantly impaired (60% loss) and I really can’t understand TV programs,” says Galen Stanely, who purchased AudioFetch Home in November 2020. “With AudioFetch Home streaming to my Bluetooth hearing aids via my iPhone, the audio is crystal clear. I use it every day.”

After having such a positive experience with Home, Galen recommended AudioFetch to his pastor. “Our WLDO pastor ministers full time to hearing impaired and deaf people in our area and all across the US,” Galen added. “He uses the highly mobile AudioFetch Express for both worship and small group study while visiting many churches and congregations.”

The Most Affordable Assistive Listening Solution for Churches

Houses of worship around the world use AudioFetch Express as simple, affordable, and flexible assistive listening devices for churches, as well as to provide real-time translation services. AudioFetch eliminates the need for maintenance-intensive and unhygienic assistive listening devices or expensive and complex hearing loop systems. It’s simple to install and easy for listeners to use via the free AudioFetch app on their smartphone or tablet.

If you’re looking for an effective and cost-efficient way to provide accessibility for your hearing-impaired members, AudioFetch is the ideal solution! Contact us by calling 844-HI-FETCH or scheduling an appointment to discuss your house of worship application and free get a quote.

What is Wireless Audio Distribution?

By | Wireless Audio | No Comments

Being part of the audio industry for nearly two decades, we’ve seen an unbelievable amount of change and growth. We’re excited to see that with each passing year, while the technology becomes more advanced and sophisticated, the listener experience becomes more user-friendly and simpler.

Yet, some of the terms we use to describe various concepts, products and features can be confusing. So today we’d like to address one of those potentially puzzling topics–wireless audio distribution.

Let’s dive in!

What is wireless audio distribution?

Wireless audio distribution is a way to deliver high-quality audio content without requiring hard-wiring. It’s a great option for public events or activities that require sound, but do not have the infrastructure (or budget!) for a complex installation of hardware and cables.

While there are numerous types of wireless audio distribution systems out there, they all include the same four components:
1. Audio source
2. Audio transmitter
3. Audio receiver
4. Audio reproduction or playback device (i.e., amplifier or speaker)

How does wireless audio distribution work?

A transmitter receives an audio signal from a source (e.g., TV, music, person speaking, etc.) then transmits the signal over a wireless network. The receiver picks up this wireless signal and sends it to an audio reproduction devices (i.e., speaker or amplifier) which turns the signal into audible sound.

Who uses wireless audio distribution?

Numerous different types of businesses and events use wireless audio distribution systems. Here are just a few examples:
– Race tracks
Sports stadiums
– Live music events
Auctions
– Business conference rooms
Theaters
Legislative proceedings
Educational institutions
Churches and houses of worship
Airports
Casinos
– Event centers
Warehouses
– Community centers

Is AudioFetch a wireless audio distribution system?

Yes, it certainly is! AudioFetch is not your traditional wireless audio distribution system, but that’s why our customers love it. Instead of requiring separate receivers and playback devices, AudioFetch allows people to hear the audio on their smartphones. This makes it a much simpler and more affordable solution.

For businesses there’s no need to purchase, install and maintain speaker systems or provide individual hearing devices. And for listeners, they already have the receiver and playback device in their pocket already. It’s a simplified solution for everyone!

If you would like to know more about wireless audio distribution for your business, or would like to purchase a wireless audio solution, don’t hesitate to contact us by calling 844-HI-FETCH, dropping us a line here or scheduling an appointment at your convenience.

10 Tech Gadgets You Need for Your Home This Summer

By | Home Audio | No Comments

Summer is finally here and many people have big plans after the Lost Summer of 2020. Family vacations, cross-country road trips, patio hangs and backyard BBQs with friends, or simply just getting back into a more “normal” routine of going into the office and running errands outside the house.

Whatever you have planned for this summer, there are loads of gadgets and technology that will make your life easier, your experience more enjoyable and continue to keep your loved ones safe. Check out these 10 must-have tech gadgets for your home this summer:

1. Plugin Air Purifier & Sanitizer

It’s a simple setup — just plug it into any outlet in your home and it starts working immediately.

6. Auto Pet Feeder

Pawple

Now that you’re not home all day every day to spoil your pets, you might find it difficult to get back to the right feeding schedule. An automatic pet feeder like Pawple solves that issue. This feeder holds up to 20 cups of dry dog or cat food, and allows you to program portion size and precise mealtimes. You can even record a personal voice message to play, alerting your furry friends that it’s time to eat and reminding them that you haven’t forgotten about them while out!

7. Smart Light Bulbs

Wyze also offers these smart bulbs for cheap, which are controlled from your smartphone or voice if you have Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa. You can also change the brightness and color.

8. Robot Cleaner

The iRobot Roomba uses sensors and camera-based navigation to clean your floors, and some models can even empty their own dustbins automatically. Let Roomba handle the dirty work, so you can enjoy your time out of the house and rest assured it will be spotless when you get home.

New AudioFetch App Features: Rapid ReFetch & New In-App Support

By | AudioFetch News | No Comments

We’re continually looking to improve the AudioFetch app to make it more useful for our customers and the AudioFetch App users. We are excited to announce two new features that help listeners to have a more efficient and seamless experience in those rare instances that something isn’t working properly: Rapid ReFetch and In-App Support.

Rapid ReFetch

AudioFetch Rapid ReFetch App Feature

Whether you’re using your own local WiFi network or AudioFetch Express’s built-in wireless network, you may on occasion experience a drop in WiFi signal. These things happen. Previously, the listener would have to close and relaunch the AudioFetch App.

With the new Rapid ReFetch feature, AudioFetch detects the loss of connection and provides a single button to ReFetch the audio stream. This feature takes the burden off the listener to take steps to reconnect.

In-App Support

AudioFetch In-App Support Feature

The second App update involves improved In-App Support to the user. Periodically, the AudioFetch app may run into an issue connecting besides wireless network issues. There are a variety of reasons this may happen, and in the rare case that it does, the listener is required to perform some action to get reconnected.

With the new improved In-App Support feature, AudioFetch detects the rare situation of a failed connection and gives the user feedback to fix the issue. The app automatically detects the issue and provides simple step-by-step instructions directly within the app for resolving it. Regardless of the listener’s technical ability or knowledge of smartphones, they can easily follow the simple instructions to resolve the issue on their own, without requiring additional support.

Both of these new features are now available in the latest Apple and Android AudioFetch apps. If you have any questions about these new features or other aspects of AudioFetch wireless audio streaming solutions, we’re here to help! Drop us a line, call us at 844-HI-FETCH, or schedule an appointment at your convenience.

Performing Arts Centers Use AudioFetch for Assistive Listening Solution

By | Hearing Assistance, Theater | No Comments

As theaters and performing arts centers around the globe begin to reopen, one key thing is on their mind–how can we provide a safe yet entertaining experience for guests? This question has led many to reconsider their accessibility solutions for guests with hearing impairments.

How have theaters traditionally provided hearing assistance?

There were two key methods for providing assistive listening solutions–shared hearing devices and hearing loops.

Handing out hearing devices is no longer acceptable–these shared devices have always been a headache to clean and maintain, but now the stakes are much higher than a little headache.

Hearing loops have been used for decades, but they can be complex, inconvenient and expensive, and after many theaters had to close their doors for the better part of a year, every penny matters.

Enter AudioFetch. Theaters and performing arts centers around the world are turning to AudioFetch as their assistive listening solution for three key reasons:

  • Simplicity – Plug AudioFetch in, connect to WiFi and start broadcasting immediately.
  • Affordability – At just $549 and no monthly fees, AudioFetch Express is a fraction of the cost of other assistive listening solutions.
  • Convenience – No more keeping track of clunky, finicky and unhygienic assistive listening devices. Listeners use their own smartphones.

Check out these three performing arts centers that recently tapped AudioFetch to provide assistive listening.

The Star Performing Arts Center

The Star Theater is the key venue in the Center and is fitted with a high-end audio, video and production lighting system, providing an exceptional audio-visual experience. And with the addition of AudioFetch, they’re also able to provide next-gen assistive listening capabilities for their diverse audiences.

GoggleWorks Center for the Arts

The building is a former goggle factory, hence the name, and is composed of 145,000 square feet of creative and community space.

They only allow 15-40 cars at each of their locations (two in Austin, Texas, one in Round Rock, Texas, and one in Minturn, Colorado), ensuring all guests can enjoy an intimate, personal, and one-of-a-kind drive-in experience.

AudioFetch Blog Header - Legislative Hearing Assistance

How to Provide Hearing Assistance in Courtrooms & Legislative Proceedings

By | Government | No Comments

For decades, courtrooms and government meeting rooms have used hearing loop technology to allow participants to hear better during hearings and legislative procedures. While hearing loops are an effective way to provide this hearing accessibility, they present a few problems:

  1. Hearing loops are expensive
  2. Listeners must use a hearing aid
  3. The installation process can be complex
  4. Metal in walls and floors can cause interference

Today, courts and legislative bodies that are looking for a more affordable, efficient, flexible and modern solution are turning to AudioFetch audio over WiFi streaming. Following are five benefits that AudioFetch provides for hearing assistance in court and legislative settings:

1. Secure One-Way Communications

Security is of the utmost importance in legal and legislative proceedings. AudioFetch technology uses the local wireless network to stream audio. When that network is password protected, you can limit who can listen to only those approved individuals.

2. No Hearing Aid Required

People don’t always wear hearing aids when they should. Maybe they forgot it, maybe it’s too uncomfortable, maybe it creates too much feedback, or maybe it simply makes them feel old. Whatever the reasons, not using a hearing aid when you need one can cause you to miss important information, and in a legal setting, it’s imperative that every word can be heard.

Even when someone doesn’t need a hearing aid, they could still benefit from hearing better. As quiet as legal proceedings can be, there can also be loud, distracting background noise that makes the main speaker difficult to hear.

With wireless audio streaming, all the listener needs is a smartphone or mobile device, which nearly everyone has already and never leaves home without, and headphones.

3. Lower Installation Cost

The fees associated with installing a hearing loop are just for the system. Depending on the size and construction of the courtroom, you may need to pull up carpeting, tiles or baseboards and replace any damaged items. Additionally, metal in walls and floors can create interference, limiting the capabilities of the loop system. Installation requires a specialist, can be messy and takes some time.

Installing wireless audio streaming is so simple, it’s nearly plug-and-play. Your hearing assistance solution can be up and running the day you receive it, and you won’t have to touch an inch of flooring or walls.

4. No Monthly Fees

Other hearing assistance solutions require ongoing monthly fees and/or charge extra when you hit a usage limit or each additional listener. With AudioFetch, you pay for the equipment and it’s yours to use as much you need for as long as you need. And we never charge for support either.

5. Minimal Equipment

A single piece of equipment is all that’s required for local audio streaming. If you’d like to expand coverage or connect with other audio sources, you can add a transmitter and receiver, but these are entirely optional.

Save time, money and hassle, and make it easier for participants to hear during legislative proceedings. Contact us today to request a quote or schedule an appointment at your convenience.

AudioFetch Blog Header - Church Easter Services

Help Your Congregation Hear Easter Services

By | Churches | No Comments

Easter services bring in a larger crowd than usual each year. And while this year’s services will be anything but usual, houses of worship can still expect to see more community members visiting the church for the holiday.

Whether your organization is planning to have indoor or outdoor services, there are ways you can help your larger-than-usual congregation hear better this Easter.

Holding Easter Services Indoors

Echoes from tall ceilings, shuffling from kneelers, sounds from children. All of these noises can make it difficult for non-hearing-impaired members to hear the sermon. Add in a hearing impairment, and it’s likely they’re missing at least 20% of what’s being said.

Our assisted listening devices for churches can help everyone hear 100% of the services. With AudioFetch, you can broadcast the services to your congregation via the AudioFetch app. Church members simply download the free AudioFetch app, and they can start listening immediately.

It’s a simple and affordable replacement for hearing loop systems, and can help address any safety concerns about using shared devices–since members use their own smartphone or tablet and their own headphones, there’s no sharing of hearing devices (and no ongoing maintenance or cleaning required).

If your congregation has members that speak another language, AudioFetch can help here, too. A live translator can speak into a microphone attached to AudioFetch, which will broadcast the translated services to anyone listening via the app. Using AudioFetch as translation equipment for churches creates a welcoming environment for all community members and fresh faces that will join you for Easter Services.

Holding Easter Services Outdoors

Churches that aren’t permitted or aren’t comfortable holding indoor services are continuing drive-in services in their parking lots. With our AudioFetch church drive-in audio solution or FM Transmitter offered by our partner company Broadcastvision Entertainment, your congregation can hear every work of the Easter services from the safety and comfort of their vehicles.

Even if your church is hosting indoor services, this is still a great option for your members that are more at-risk and cautious. You can broadcast the same services indoors and outdoors so everyone can feel connected and safe.

We’re also offering special bundled packages for churches to allow you to connect via your own WiFi or with a router, or to get both the AudioFetch Express and the FM Transmitter at once. These bundled packages can be found at our Broadcastvision website

Make your religious gathering welcoming to all, and be confident that you are engaging all those who chose to attend Easter Services by contacting us today, before the holiday rush.
